Cox Automation Systems Project 3652 "Peg Leg" Printed Circuit Boards Printed circuit boards are conveyed to this machine from upstream operations. PCB"S are picked up, inverted and placed in a tooling tray that automatically positions the board underneath rivet insertion tooling. After each rivet is placed, the positioning stage relocates the board for the next rivet. There is a vision system to check quality. There are two riveting stations on this machine. If one is down, the other can still process the parts. This unit came from the Carrier corporation. We have not used it or hook it up because we do not have 460. There are a ton of spare parts. System Overview Printed circuit boards are conveyed to this machine from upstream operations. PCBs are picked up, inverted, and placed in a tooling tray that automatically positions the board underneath rivet insertion tooling. After each rivet is placed, the positioning stage relocates the board for the next rivet. When all rivets have been attached, the completed part is picked up, inverted again, and placed under a vision system. If the vision inspection is good, the PCB is offloaded to a good parts bin; if the part fails the inspection, it goes to a bad parts bin. For maximum efficiency, there are two riveting stations on this machine. If one is down, the other can still process parts.
