Equipment Description
Lot Of 11 Bascom Palmer Eye Institute BPEI Ocular Photosensitivity Analyzers
  • The BPEI Ocular Photosensitivity Analyzer (OPA) is a research non-invasive instrument provided by Janssen for use on Janssen studies. The BPEI Ocular Photosensitivity Analyzer emits a light stimulus through a concave array panel composed of 210 LEDs placed at 50 cm from the subject. The array produces up to 32,000 lux. The computer-controlled instrument presents different light stimuli and is programmed for a 2 second exposure at 4 second inter-stimulus intervals. This technique utilizes random ascending and descending steps, and the subject is instructed to press a button to indicate when the light intensity is uncomfortable. The test is completed after 10 response reversals, and the threshold is calculated from the mean of these responses. It produces a reliability index using catch trials. The data is registered and recorded by the computer. A camera with a 6.5 pixels/mm resolution and the LabVIEW software were included to record, in high-resolution infrared video, the subject’s responses.
  • These 11 devices have custom software programmed specifically for Janssen and the protocol they were designed for which may not be appropriate for the general public. Data output is encrypted and would be inaccessible to anyone other than Janssen.
  • One of the devices underwent electromagnetic safety testing, which involved administering high voltages and magnetic fields. The device suffered multiple system failures and would need to be repaired.
  • The devices are for "research use only", not approved by the FDA, that require a high level of technical expertise to operate and maintain. Without the input and training from our team, these devices will be problematic for a technician to use.
  • Serial numbers: SN-012021; SN-022021; SN-042021; SN-202203-01; SN-202203-02; SN-202203-03; SN-202207-01; SN-202207-02; SN-202207-03; SN-202207-04; SN-202207-05.

Lote De 11 BPEI Analizadores De Fotosensibilidad Ocular Bascom Palmer Eye Institute
