    IMA BG 1250 FLS DH Glass Vial Washer and Depyrogenation Drying Tunnel, Vial Filling Line 9, requires a 6 Bar Compressed Air Supply

    IMA glass vial washer and depyrogenation tunnel. Continuous dry heat depyrogenation for a 3 log reduction of endotoxins.
    Model = Blue Galaxy, S/N = SA1300183

    The line starts with a vial handling butter table that feeds the vial washer (vials are fed onto this table from listing 675030, ‘traying on’). Vials are air washed, water washed with WFI, air washed and then final rinse with WFI before moving into the depyrogenation tunnel. Vials are rotated during the washing process. This particular model includes 2 off heating zones and 2 off cooling zones. Sterilised vials are then off loaded from the tunnel onto a buffer table prior to entering the vial filling line (Listing 675026). This installation has been validated to produce 320 vials per minute but is capable of higher outputs.

    Vials are washed using recycled WFI followed by final rinse in fresh WFI, once washed the vials remain under HEPA filtered air until the over seal is applied by the capper. Once washed the vials are sterilised and depyrogenated and are supplied to the filler via an accumulation table and infeed conveyor. Vials are transported through the filling machine in a cassette of 4 vials. 4 vials are weighed prior to filling, 4 vials are dosed with product, 4 vials are weighed post filling, 4 vials are stoppered.
    Powder is supplied from kegs raised up to the delivery pipe and inverted and located into position by the robot. Powder is dosed into the delivery pipe on command from the filling machine and travels to the filler main hopper under vibration. In the main hopper the product is distributed to one of 2 lower hoppers which call for powder as they empty. The lower hoppers have a central spinal that turns continuously to prevent the powder bridging and also move the powder down to the dosewheels below. Each lower hopper feeds 2 dosehweels, hence there are 4 dosewheels in operation. Each dosewheel has 10 dose ports. The volume in the doseport is what controls the doseweight of the powder. Each port as a dose piston inserted which is moved incrementally by the filling machine to control the dose set by the operator, on the end of the piston the is a Teflon membrane which allows gas exchange but prevents powder travelling beyond the dose port. Powder enters the dose port using mechanical compression from the lower hopper spindle from above and via vacuum applied from behind the dose piston pulling the powder into the dose port. The powder pellet is held under vacuum from the upper 12 o’clock position to the lower 6 o’clock position. The machine timing ensuring that vials arrive synchronously with the turn of the dosewheel and the powder pellet is expelled from the dose port using sterile filtered compressed air. Once empty the dosewheel passes through a series of higher pressure compressed air purges to clear the dose port of any residual powder prior to being refilled.
    The filled vials are then 100% check weighed to confirm the dose weight is within specification and re then stoppered. Any vials selected for rejection are removed by a fail safe rejection system after the stoppering station. Vails are rejected for failure of check weigh specification either pre or post filling, incorrect stopper positioning or lack of stopper.
    Subsequently the vials are transported to the capper where a vision system again checks the presence and position of the stopper prior to application of the overseal. The overseal compressed onto the vial where an internal weighcell measures the compression to ensure the overseal is crimped such it is not too loose or too tight. Once crimped a second vision system checks the crimp condition and presence of the flip off top to the cap. After this point the vials a transported to the LASER etcher where a product identifying etch is applied. The vials are then 100% visually inspected prior to being trayed off for transfer to the packaging operation.

    Fully automated IMA Micro Fill MF 400 2012 (CE) Glass Vial Filling machine used for the manufacture of Augmentin IV antibiotic sterile injections.

    Set up for 25cc glass vials, which are filled with Augmentin Powder via 2 off Pairs of Overhead Rotating Filler Heads

    Conveyor moves vials from Depyrogenation tunnel (Listing No 675029) into filling section of machine. 25 litre aluminium kegs containing circa 15kg of Augmentin are transferred (4 at a time, on cradles) into the Fanuc robot keg handling isolator and are check weighed before being tipped into filling section of the machine. The filling machine is capable of check weighing, filling and bung fitting 4 vials at a time. The machine can fill 240 vials per minute at 100% check weighing. And, 320 vials per minute with no check weighing. The machine will reject any vials that are out of specification for weight and bung fit. The machine utilises a set of (2 off) change parts via a ‘Super Plate’ system. The Super Plates are designed to cradle the filling head and bung hoppers during the sterilisation process (autoclaving) and transfer the parts under Grade A environmental conditions. Parts are then fitted in place via numerous glove ports. A Pharmagraph environmental monitoring system is included to monitor the environment throughout the machine for viable and nonviable contamination. The machine is also equipped with CCTV.
    Sealed vials are then moved via conveyor to the capping machine in the adjacent room where aluminium caps are fitted to each vial (Listing No 675028).

    Item 3 – Bulk powder keg handling IMA isolator with Fanuc M710i 6 Axis robot and weigh scale for keg check weighing. Kegs (4 off) are placed into the isolator in cradles via docking station and the entire isolator is maintained at positive pressure to the adjacent room via H14 HEPA laminar air from plenum above. Technician then removes crimp and bung from keg via glove ports. Robot then inverts keg and connects to powder filling hopper/feed line. Empty keg placed onto cradle by robot.     Item 4 – IMA vial filling head isolator/line. Model = Micro Fill MF400. S/N = DH1028. 2012 CE. Powder fed into glass vials and check weighed. Replacement filling heads/dose wheels are fitted to line via ‘Super Plate’ and docking system. Isolator is maintained at positive pressure to the adjacent room via H14 HEPA laminar air from plenum above. Est 3,500Kg. 4000 x 1800 x 3050mm.

    Item 5 – IMA bung lift and hopper isolator. Bulk supply of sealing bungs and/or hopper are placed into isolator via ‘Super Plate’ and docking station and lift. Technician then fits components via glove ports. Hopper sorts bungs into correct orientation. Pick and place vacuum arm fits bungs into 4 off vials at a time. Isolator is maintained at positive pressure to the adjacent room via H14 HEPA laminar air from plenum above. Est 2,000Kg. 2900 x 1400 x 3050mm.

    Utilises 8 off capping heads. Output = 400 vials per minute. Vial diameter range = 14-52mm. Vial height range = 35-110mm
    Machine is inside an enclosure constructed from steel box section and glass/polycarbonate vision panels. H14 HEPA laminar air flow (LAF) plenum above. Est 2500Kg. 3600 x 2100 x 2750mm.

    Item 2 – IMA H14 HEPA laminar air flow (LAF) plenum and glass/polycarbonate enclosure for infeed conveyor to capping machine. Est 250Kg. 1010 x 770 x 2750mm.
