Equipment Description
TAP Biosystems MK7 Cellmate With Incubator Cell Growth Chambers and Staubli TX60 Robot

  • TAP Biosystems MK7 Cellmate With Incubator and Cell Growth Chambers

  • Crate With Cell Growth Plastic Panels, Monitor and More Spore Parts

  • TAP Biosystems Parts

  • TAP Biosystems Spar Parts

  • TAP Biosystems Incubator

  • TAP Biosystems Conveyor

  • The standard Cellmate Mk7 equipment will comprise

    • A custom-built vertical laminar flow cabinet, specified to operate at Positive pressure relative to the room

    • A Staubli robot with controller

    • A host control computer (PC), system interfacing hardware, in an electronics enclosure within the cabinet

    • A control screen and keypad

    • Infeed and outfeed conveyors to deliver vessels to and from infeed /outfeed nests. These locate the vessels accurately, just inside the cabinet, for access by the robot

    • A motorised decapper to remove, retain and replace roller bottle caps

    • Four peristaltic pumps, two with double pump heads, to dispense or aspirate process liquids

    • A funnel system for the collection of liquid from vessels or for removal of liquid
waste. The funnel has an integral spray rinse nozzle for cell sheet rinsing operations
in roller bottles. Four funnels are supplied

    • An in-process incubator for short-term incubation of vessels during trypsinisation and
an in-line trypsin heater. Four in-line heaters are supplied

    • Software and hardware that enable the Cellmate to be operated in a 21CFR Part 11
      compliant manner

    • System software which is common to all Cellmates and controls the generic aspects of
      the robot and peripheral equipment

    • Cellmate was designed in 1987 to make Erythropoetin for human clinical trials and has
subsequently been applied in the development and manufacture of a wide range of human
biotherapeutics by the majority of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotech
companies. With over 50 Cellmates installed for GMP applications, the user list includes
Merck, Aventis Pasteur, Baxter, Pfizer, Crucell and Amgen.
Cellmate automates the aseptic processing of mammalian cells in most standard roller
bottles. This simple approach, of automating what already works, allows immediate
implementation of the Cellmate. There is no need for process change, process development
or regulatory re-approval. Going live is achieved with zero process risk.
Robotic precision ensures consistent and reliable results. Whatever the batch size, each
vessel and each batch is processed identically, providing reproducible cell culture
performance day after day, batch after batch. Controlled re-programming and sterilisation of
the Cellmate (using standard cleaning and fumigation techniques) allows for processing of
different products and optimized processes to be achieved, providing a highly versatile
      production tool
