Equipment Description
The Agilent 5200 Fragment Analyzer (product number FSv2-CE2F) is an automated parallel capillary electrophoresis system used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of DNA and RNA samples. It performs automated gel loading, separation, detection and analysis, giving fragment sizing and concentration data from very small sample volumes, and is commonly used for NGS library QC, genomic DNA quality assessment and RNA integrity checks. This is the 12-capillary configuration, which separates twelve samples in parallel. The instrument accepts standard 96-well sample plates from the front-loading drawer stack and, per Agilent's published data for this platform, offers a sizing range of roughly 75 bp to 48,500 bp with resolution down to about 3 bp for small fragments. The unit is a self-contained benchtop instrument with LED-based excitation and CCD detection; system control and data analysis are handled from an external PC running ProSize software (computer not shown in the photos). The rear nameplate (photo 3) identifies the unit as Agilent Technologies FSv2-CE2F, serial number MY2050AA83, made in Malaysia 2020-12, rated 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, 200 VA, single phase, and bearing the CE mark. Rear panel connections for CCD and HUB are present with cables attached. Photos 1 and 2 show the instrument with its front door open, the six labeled reagent/buffer array drawers (B, W, M, 1, 2, 3), a gel/reagent bottle in its holder with tubing connected to the GEL and COND ports, and a sample plate in the open sample drawer. The unit is used lab equipment, sitting on a wire cart, and shows cosmetic marks on the top cover along with a handwritten "PCV" label and a piece of tape on the front panel. Operating condition has not been verified and no accessories, capillary array consumables, reagents or computer are confirmed beyond what appears in the photos.
