Equipment Description
BioTek Instruments ELx808IUCR absorbance microplate reader, a filter-based benchtop photometer for 96-well microplates. The IUCR configuration is the incubating, kinetic-capable version supplied by Charles River for Endosafe endotoxin (LAL) and microbial detection assays; the unit carries Charles River Endosafe support labels and a Charles River field service contact card on the housing (photos 1 and 2). The instrument reads standard 96-well plates through an interchangeable filter wheel in the visible/near-UV absorbance range and supports endpoint and kinetic reads, with onboard incubation. It is operated from the integral alphanumeric keypad and LCD on the front panel, so a computer is not required for routine assays, and the rear panel carries a parallel port for an external printer or data output (photo 4). A plate is shown loaded on the transport in photo 3. Power is supplied by an external line-voltage power brick labeled FOR INCUBATED UNITS, visible with the unit in photo 4. The nameplate on the rear of the instrument reads BioTek Instruments, Inc., REF ELx808IUCR, SN 2108124, Mfg. Date 2021-08-12, Made in USA, and carries CE and TUV SUD NRTL marks (photo 5). A facility calibration label on the top cover shows ID# 116756 calibrated 25 Sep 2025 with the next calibration due 30 Sep 2026 (photo 2), indicating the unit was in service at the seller's site. The reader is a self-contained benchtop unit sitting on a laboratory bench and is hand carryable. No computer, software, printer or filter set beyond what is shown in the photos is included or implied.
