Equipment Description
The Caliper Life Sciences TurboVap 96 is a microprocessor-controlled concentration workstation that evaporates and concentrates samples in 96-well microplates using a heated, pressurized nitrogen stream. Two independent sample positions are provided, each with its own gas manifold and heated block, so two plates can be run simultaneously or a single plate can be processed on its own. The front control panel provides separate parameter control for positions 1 and 2, with selectable readouts for gas time, plate temperature, flow rate, elapsed time and cycle readout, plus Over Temperature and Low Flow indicators and Start/Stop keys for each position. Gas flow and block heating are set through the Value/Units display using the Select and Set keys, allowing unattended, programmed evaporation cycles. Internally the unit has two stainless steel wells holding perforated plate carriers, with hinged 96-pin gas manifold heads that drop over the plates to deliver nitrogen to each well. Electrical data from the serial tag reads 100/120 V, 60 Hz, 6 A fuse (F250V), part number 103263/1, and the tag carries the CE mark. The unit accepts standard and deep-well 96-well plates and is fitted with a rear exhaust port and gas inlet connection. This is a benchtop instrument of approximately 26 x 18 x 15 inches. Photos show the machine on a bench with an in-house preventive maintenance sticker dated June 2021; no operational testing or accessory content is documented beyond what the photographs show.
