Equipment Description
Cytiva AKTA Pure FPLC Chromatography System with F9-C Fraction Collector and Pump

Cytiva (GE Healthcare) AKTA Pure FPLC chromatography system, product code 29018224 / code no. 29014830, serial number 2641936, manufactured 2020/06 in Uppsala, Sweden (nameplate, photo 8). The AKTA pure is a bench-top, modular liquid chromatography (FPLC) system used to purify proteins, peptides and nucleic acids from microgram to gram scale, running under UNICORN software from a connected PC. The 29018224 configuration is the AKTA pure 25 platform, with a flow range up to 25 mL/min.

The instrument in the photos is the standard AKTA pure module rack: system pump heads mounted on the lower module rail, inlet valve V9-IN, injection valve V9H-Inj, column valve, outlet valve, pH valve with pH flow cell, conductivity monitor and a UV monitor with flow cell, plus the mixer and the front drip tray and tubing holders (photos 1 and 2). The front control panel with run/pause keys is on the right-hand column, and the main power switch is on the rear panel (photo 3). Nameplate data: 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, single phase, IP21 protection class, CE marked.

Per the field notes, the system is offered with the computer and consumables: a Dell small-form-factor PC with keyboard and mouse (photo 5) and a Dell flat-panel monitor (photos 4 and 6), plus boxes of consumables including coiled tubing and bagged fittings (photo 7). Assorted capillary tubing, fittings and a UV flow cell holder are also present on and around the unit in photos 1 through 3.

Condition and function were not otherwise documented by the field user; the system was photographed set up on a laboratory bench in an R&D facility and no lit display or power-on test is shown in the photos.

Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare) Fraction collector F9-C, product no. 29027743, code no. 29015408, a covered cassette-format x-y fraction collector designed for use with AKTA pure chromatography systems in combination with an outlet valve V9-O / V9H-O. It is a benchtop module with a hinged front door and a viewing window, an internal cassette tray and an x-y dispensing head that moves the delivery tubing over the selected vessel position.
