Equipment Description
Eppendorf 5425 microcentrifuge, a benchtop unit for microliter-scale sample processing in laboratory and R&D settings. The nameplate on this unit identifies it as Type 5425, serial number 5405JR218411, rated 120 V, 50-60 Hz, 3.8 A, 280 W, with a maximum speed of 15,060 rpm, maximum kinetic energy 4,136 J and maximum sample density 1.2 g/mL. This is the non-refrigerated version of the 5425 series. The control panel on the front has a digital display with menu/enter, rpm/rcf, and up/down keys for time and speed, three program keys (prog 1, prog 2, prog 3), short-spin, open and start/stop buttons. The rear of the unit shows the power switch, IEC inlet and cooling vents, and the supplied power cord is present in the photos. The unit is a self-contained benchtop instrument standing loose on a bench. The 5425 is normally supplied with the Eppendorf FA-24x2 fixed-angle rotor holding 24 x 1.5/2.0 mL tubes; the rotor chamber was not shown open in the photos of this unit, so rotor presence should be confirmed at pickup. No field notes on operation or service history were provided, and the display is not lit in the photos, so powered-on status has not been verified.
