Equipment Description
Formulatrix Mantis V3.3 ACC RFID microfluidic liquid handler / reagent dispenser. The Mantis is a compact benchtop, non-contact dispenser that uses disposable silicone microfluidic chips and a patented positive-displacement valve cluster to deliver reagents into microplates from 96 up to 1536 wells, allowing assay miniaturization without tips or cross-contamination between reagents. This V3.3 ACC (Automatic Chip Changer) configuration adds RFID chip recognition, and the unit carries the multi-position chip/reagent carousel holders visible on the deck in photo 1. The nameplate on the rear panel reads MANTIS V3.3 ACC RFID, Serial# 01288, 100-240V AC, 50-60 Hz, 150 W, with a CE mark and a build date of 03/2021. Dispense volumes are chip dependent: low volume chips use 0.1 and 0.5 uL diaphragms, high volume chips 1 and 5 uL, and the continuous flow chip covers roughly 5 to 2000 uL per the manufacturer's published data. The instrument is USB controlled from a PC running Mantis dispenser software. Per the field user's notes, the unit is offered with a computer: a Microsoft Surface tablet/laptop with its power supply is shown in photos 2 and 3, labeled CONTROLS ASSET#02149 with a login note (user: Mantis Computer). Photo 1 also shows the reagent chip holder assemblies, tubing and a sample tube in place, a factory warning label about reagent spills on the chips, and a biohazard sticker and asset labels applied by the prior owner; the biohazard label should be reviewed for decontamination status before shipment. No condition, run hours or service history were reported beyond the field notes, and no statement about whether the unit powers on was recorded.
