Equipment Description
The Hamilton Microlab STAR is an automated liquid handling workstation used for pipetting, sample preparation, reagent addition, plate replication and similar high-throughput laboratory workflows. This unit is part number 173000-018/J, serial number D361, built by Hamilton in Reno, USA, and is configured with air-displacement CO-RE pipetting channels riding on a liquid handling arm over an open, track-based deck. The deck rail is numbered in track positions for standard carriers (tip racks, plates, tubes and reagent troughs), and the instrument is fitted with a hinged front safety shield and a top cover with a warning and biohazard labeling. Hamilton's 1000 uL CO-RE pipetting channels cover a working volume range of roughly 1 uL to 1000 uL, and the STAR platform is controlled from a PC running Hamilton VENUS software. The nameplate rates the instrument for 115 VAC or 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 600 VA, and it carries CSA and CE marks. The machine sits on its own aluminum-frame bench with a lower storage shelf. Per the field user's notes, the computer, consumables, drawers, glassware and related accessories are all included with the system. The photos show a Dell Precision 3650 tower PC and an Inheco Multi TEC Control unit alongside the workstation, plus boxed consumables stored on the bench shelf. Shipping foam blocks have been placed inside the deck area to secure the arm and channels, and several components are wrapped in protective film. Condition beyond what is visible in the photos has not been verified and the unit was not observed running.
