Equipment Description
Hamilton Microlab STAR automated liquid handling workstation, REF 173000, manufactured by Hamilton Bonaduz AG (build date 2021-06-02 on the instrument label). The Microlab STAR is an air-displacement pipetting platform that uses Hamilton's CO-RE disposable-tip channels travelling on a liquid handling arm over a track-based deck, so carriers for tip racks, microplates, troughs and tube racks can be arranged for the application. Typical 1000 uL channel configurations pipette in the range of approximately 0.5 to 1000 uL. The instrument is fitted with the clear-panel safety enclosure with front access panels and is mounted on an aluminum-frame instrument bench with a lower shelf. The rating label reads 115 VAC (T6.3AL250V) / 230 VAC (T3.15A250V), 50/60 Hz, 600 VA, and carries CE and TUV marks. The deck is laid out in numbered tracks with tip-waste and carrier positions visible in the photos. Per the field user's notes, the control computer, consumables and drawers are included. The photos show a Dell tower workstation and an APC UPS on the lower shelf of the bench, along with unopened Hamilton cartons including a CO-RE filter item and a 62964-01 STAR verify kit, plus loaded carriers and reagent bottles staged on the deck. The unit was in service in an R&D laboratory and carries biohazard labels and facility asset tags. Operating condition was not verified at the time of the visit; no power-up test is recorded.
