Equipment Description
The REM GB-3 is a complete glass breaking and crushing system built by Recycling Equipment Manufacturing, Inc. (Priest River, Idaho). The GB Series consists of two basic parts: a low in-feed conveyor with hopper and a crushing mechanism. Glass bottles and containers are loaded into the hopper, the cleated conveyor belt meters them into the crusher, and a steel cleated drum rotating against a breaker plate reduces them to a uniform cullet suitable for recycling, with cullet typically running about 80 lbs per cubic foot for maximum shipping density. Per the manufacturer's published GB Series data, the GB-3 is the largest of the three standard GB models: approximately 7/8 cu yd hopper, 67 inch hopper width, 44 inch loading height, 48 inch discharge height, a 3 HP crusher drive and throughput of up to 16,000 lbs per hour. Construction is all-steel unitized, with an enclosed conveyor belt return and a self-cleaning tail pulley to reduce spillage and belt wear. The unit in the photos carries the REM nameplate reading MODEL GB-3 and is finished in the factory blue with yellow belt and drum guards. Visible features include a belt-and-pulley crusher drive with a TEFC motor mounted on top of the crusher housing, a second gearmotor driving the in-feed conveyor, hinged access panels on the crusher housing, multiple grease fittings, a NEMA-style enclosure with start/stop pushbuttons mounted on the conveyor frame, a cord-connected power lead with twist-lock plug coiled in the hopper, and swivel casters at all four corners for mobility. The in-feed conveyor is shown folded/lowered for transport and lifting slings are rigged to the crusher housing. No field notes on operation, hours or service history were provided, and the machine was not observed running, so condition and functionality should be verified by the buyer. Sold as shown in the photographs.
