Equipment Description
Thermo Fisher Scientific Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid mass spectrometer (serial FSN10413, nameplate photo 5) configured with the Electron-Transfer Dissociation (ETD) option and supplied with a Thermo Scientific Dionex UltiMate 3000 RSLCnano liquid chromatography system. The Orbitrap Fusion combines a quadrupole mass filter, a linear ion trap and an Orbitrap mass analyzer in Thermo's Tribrid architecture, supporting high-resolution, accurate-mass MS and MSn work in proteomics, biopharmaceutical characterization and small-molecule structural elucidation. The instrument nameplate is marked CE and "For Research Use Only", with a factory ground continuity and HIPOT test stamp dated 08 JAN 2016. The ETD module is fitted to the front of the instrument and labeled "Electron-Transfer Dissociation ETD" (photos 1-3), extending fragmentation capability beyond HCD/CID for labile post-translational modifications and intact/large peptide work. The mass spectrometer sits on its own caster-mounted support cabinet; the instrument is identified on site as system "Cogsworth" on the posted label, which also lists the UltiMate 3000 module serial numbers. The accompanying Dionex UltiMate 3000 LC stack, visible in photos 8-19, consists of an SRD-3400 solvent rack with degasser (S/N 7262196), an NCS-3500RS CAP SmartFlow nano/capillary pump and column oven (S/N 8164457, RSLCnano System front panel), a WPS-3000TPL RS autosampler (S/N 8167614), a VWD-3400RS variable wavelength detector (S/N 8168437) and an FLD-3100 fluorescence detector (S/N 8168849); the LC module nameplates are dated 2019. Also pictured are a Chemyx F100T2 syringe pump (photos 6-7) used for direct infusion and a Rheodyne 6-port switching valve module (photo 4). Per the Orbitrap Fusion preinstallation data the mass spectrometer runs on 230 VAC single phase, 15 A, 50/60 Hz. Photographs were taken with the system installed and plumbed in the laboratory; no computer, data system, vacuum roughing pump or software is confirmed in the photos, and condition, hours and operability were not recorded by the field rep.
