Equipment Description
The VWR CryoPro BR-2 is a vacuum-insulated liquid nitrogen storage dewar used for long-term cryogenic preservation of biological samples in vapor or liquid phase. The BR series combines box-type vial storage with a low-loss insulation design, making it suited to medium-size storage programs in research, clinical and biobanking laboratories. Per VWR's published data for the BR-2, the vessel holds approximately 61 liters of liquid nitrogen with a static evaporation rate of about 0.85 L per day, and the BR models accommodate square cardboard or plastic box formats held on tiered racks. The unit is a passive, non-powered dewar; it requires no electrical service and is filled and monitored manually. Overall footprint is approximately 28 in diameter by 38 in high with the lid in place. The unit shown carries a VWR/CryoPro part and serial label reading Part # BR-2, Serial # NPB2012370176-1210, manufacture date October 2012 (photo 2), along with the factory warning and handling label. It sits on a casterered roller base and has the hinged/lift-off insulated lid and two lifting handles visible in photo 1; an emergency-contact sticker and a Unit Information Access QR label are affixed to the shell. Field notes identify the unit as Lifordi NH lot 26, VWR CryoPro BR-2 liquid nitrogen tank. Cosmetic scuffs and marks are visible on the outer shell in the photos. No racks, boxes, canisters, level controller or other accessories are shown in the photos; condition beyond what is pictured has not been verified.
