Eppendorf 5424 Microcentrifuge with FA-45-24-11 Rotor

The Eppendorf Centrifuge 5424 is a benchtop microcentrifuge used in molecular biology, biochemistry and clinical laboratories for routine spinning of 1.5 mL and 2.0 mL microcentrifuge tubes. It uses a compact, air-cooled (non-refrigerated) drive with a digital display and separate time and speed rotary controls, along with menu/enter, rpm/rcf, short-spin and start/stop keys and a motorized lid release (open) button. This unit is equipped with the Eppendorf FA-45-24-11 fixed-angle rotor, which holds 24 tubes at a 45 degree angle and is rated to a maximum of 15,000 rpm (approximately 21,130 x g) as marked on the rotor hub in photo 3. The aerosol-tight rotor lid is present and marked FA-45-24-11 / 5424/5424R (photo 2). The nameplate on the rear of the unit (photo 5) reads model 5424, serial number 5424XI915731, 120 V, 3.8 A, 50-60 Hz, 250 W, maximum speed 15,000 min-1, kinetic energy 4,070 Nm, and carries CE and cUL listing marks. The centrifuge is shown installed on a laboratory bench with its power cord attached, and the digital display is illuminated and showing values in photos 1 and 4, indicating the unit powers on. The housing shows light surface soiling and scuff marks on the lid typical of laboratory use. No other accessories, rotors or adapters are shown in the photographs.
