Fisher Scientific accuSpin Micro 17R refrigerated benchtop microcentrifuge. The unit is a compact high-speed microcentrifuge for microliter-volume separations such as nucleic acid and protein work, with active refrigeration for temperature-sensitive samples. The nameplate on this unit (photo 3) identifies it as REF 75002463, serial number 42212894, built 2017-11-14 by Thermo Electron LED GmbH in Osterode, Germany, and rated 120 V, 60 Hz, 3.9 A, 330 W. Refrigeration circuit uses R-134a (0.26 kg). The accuSpin Micro 17R is supplied with a 24-position fixed-angle microliter rotor for 1.5/2.0 mL tubes and reaches a maximum speed of 13,300 rpm (approximately 17,000 x g). Controls are on the front membrane panel with separate LED displays for speed/RCF, a 99-minute timer, and set temperature, along with rpm/RCF toggle, quick-spin, lid release, start and stop keys and a refrigeration (pre-cool) key. Maximum kinetic energy is listed on the nameplate as 1.9 kNm and maximum density of filling material as 1.2 g/cm3.
