Labconco FreeZone 1 Benchtop Freeze Dryer with Drying Chamber

Labconco FreeZone 1 benchtop freeze dry system, catalog number 7740020, configured with a stainless steel multi-port drying chamber mounted on the collector opening. The FreeZone 1 Liter is a compact bench-top lyophilizer intended for light aqueous sample loads and personal or single-user R&D work. The upright stainless steel collector coil holds approximately 1 liter of ice before defrosting is required and is rated to remove up to about 1 liter of water in 24 hours; Labconco lists a collector temperature of roughly -50 degrees C and a 1/4 hp refrigeration system. Per the manufacturer, this model is not intended for samples containing acetonitrile, and a warning label on the chamber advises against the use of acids. The front control panel carries an LCD readout with MENU, SELECT and VACUUM (MANUAL/ON/OFF) keys for setting and displaying operating parameters and service hours. The rear of the cabinet, shown in photo 4, has an IEC power inlet, a switched pump outlet receptacle for the vacuum pump, a vacuum hose connection and the data plate reading 115 VAC, 1 phase, 60 Hz. The unit requires an external vacuum pump of at least 86 L/min displacement; no vacuum pump is shown in the photographs of this unit. The drying chamber seen in photos 1 through 3 is a stainless cylinder with a clear top lid and twelve valved ports with rubber elbows and stoppers for attaching flasks or ampules, giving multiple simultaneous sample positions. The cabinet is epoxy-coated steel with a stainless front panel and a stainless vacuum manifold line attached at the side. The machine was photographed in place on a laboratory bench with its power cord attached and carries a facility property/asset label and a hand-written maintenance sticker on the front panel. No operating test, hour reading or service history was recorded during the site visit, and the condition should be verified by inspection.
