LI-COR LI-6400 Portable Photosynthesis System

LI-COR LI-6400 Portable Photosynthesis System, a battery-powered open gas-exchange analyzer used in plant science and agronomy research to measure leaf photosynthesis, transpiration, stomatal conductance and respiration. The system pairs a console containing dual non-dispersive infrared gas analyzers (CO2 and H2O, reference and sample cells), flow control, and a soda lime CO2 scrubber and desiccant tube assembly with a sensor head/leaf chamber that clamps onto the leaf and reports the gas exchange in real time on the console's LCD with keypad control. The console shown carries a 10.5-15 VDC, 3 A power input and a 6400-70 AC module for operation from mains power, plus RS-232, IRGA, chamber and auxiliary connectors on the rear panel (photo 5). Visible in the case are the console with scrubber/desiccant tubes and chemical columns, the sensor head with leaf chamber and fan-cooled Peltier block, a light source/LED head, the AC module with IEC inlet, rechargeable battery packs, the IRGA-to-console cable bundle, an RS-232 to USB adapter cable, a tripod/support rod, and a sealed bag of spares including Propafilm chamber covering instructions (part #250-01885) and spare gaskets. The field user reports the unit is a portable photosynthesis system supplied with its foam-fitted hard carry case (photos 1, 2, 6 and 7). No power-up test was recorded and no serial number was captured, so operation and calibration status have not been verified. The complete package measures approximately 26 x 21 x 11 inches in the closed transit case at roughly 70 lbs.
