Equipment Description
Microm HM 325 manual rotary microtome for paraffin sectioning in histology and pathology laboratories. The instrument is fully mechanical and hand-driven: a side handwheel drives the zero-backlash vertical specimen stroke while the micrometer feed advances the specimen horizontally at the selected section thickness, with specimen retraction on the return stroke to protect the knife edge and aid ribboning. Per the manufacturer's published data for this model, section thickness is selectable from 0.5 to 60 microns, the horizontal full-feed range is up to 28 mm, and an integrated trimming function allows block trimming at preset increments. The unit uses cross-roller bearings on the vertical movement and a removable micrometer setting knob. The photos of this unit show the white bench-top housing with MICROM branding, the coarse-feed / handwheel knob on the right-hand side, the universal knife/blade holder assembly with a numbered blade-position guide and biohazard and warning markings, the specimen clamp on the vertical head, and the integrated molded section-waste tray at the front. The manufacturer nameplate on the base reads MICROM GmbH, 69190 Walldorf, Germany, Type HM 325, Ser. No. 30172, Cat. No. 902120, Made in Germany. The microtome was photographed in place on a laboratory bench at a biopharmaceutical facility. No knife/blade, accessories, or documentation are shown in the photos, and no condition or service information was recorded by the field rep. Being a manual instrument, it requires no electrical service.
