A corporate client of EquipNet’s, Heineken has been a global leader in the brewery industry for over 140 years, focused on quality and perfection in its beverage products.
The Challenge
Heineken signed a Master Service Agreement with EquipNet to assist in managing and selling its surplus equipment across a global portfolio, including a complete site clear out for a Lagunitas facility located in Azusa, California.
After Heineken purchased the Lagunitas brand, a change in operations led to a surplus of 250+ pieces of unused brewing equipment sitting idle, some items still in the OEM packaging. Inventory included a 250 BBL Brewhouse, Krones Modufill Filler and Capper with Labeler, Multiple Rolec Fermenters and Tanks, GEA Valves, Apex Brewery Brite Tanks and Fermentation Vessels, APV Heat Exchangers, Various MRO Equipment, and much more.
The client requested complete clearance within 5 months and to optimize financial return on the assets.
The Solution
EquipNet provided a multi-phase approach to ensure a successful end result for the client, including handling all logistics needs for transporting the equipment. The first phase included an onsite inventory and evaluation of all of the assets. From there, the items were listed onto EquipNet’s online MarketPlace for Negotiated Sale and a comprehensive sales and marketing plan was launched to reach qualified end user buyers for the equipment. In the meantime, a dedicated Online Auction event was scheduled for a future date to ensure maximum sell-through.
Over 100 assets were sold through negotiated sales on EquipNet’s MarketPlace, resulting in $1.77 million in sales. The Dedicated Online Auction event attracted 129 bidders from over 10 countries across the globe and brought in over $664,000 in sales. As a final result, the majority of the assets were sold and any remaining items were scrapped, bringing in over $2.4 million in total sales for Heineken - Approximately 20% higher than the initial projection.
