In the final stages of shutting down its Norwood, Massachusetts lab facility, the client managed to address all but one of the critical steps to successfully conducting a facility closure. With a one month deadline looming, 150 surplus lab assets needed to be cleared out of the facility. The company considered scrapping all its lab assets but rejected that plan in order to recover some of its initial investment in purchasing the lab equipment. The company elected to contract EquipNet to remove, store, and sell its lab assets.
EquipNet’s specialists included the following services for a comprehensive solution to the client’s asset management needs.
-Global Consignment -Worldwide Logistics
-Facility Closure Management. -MarketPlace
EquipNet realized that this project had the potential to recover a substantial amount of value from the 150 surplus assets. However, before we could address the re-marketing aspect of this project, we needed to address the rapidly approaching deadline that was less Than thirty days away. We needed to coordinate the packaging and pick up of all 150 assets and have them relocated to our warehouse facility in neighboring Canton, MA. Once received, our warehouse personnel performed a detailed inventory reconciliation to ensure that nothing was missing. With the deadline no longer hanging overhead, the Marketing department and Direct Sales Force began getting the word out to prospective end user buyers.
After a six-month sale cycle, EquipNet managed to sell every last asset from the Norwood facility. At the end of this consignment project, EquipNet returned more than $150,000 to the client. Company representatives were pleased to see that each of their objectives were met and their expectations were dramatically exceeded in terms of recovered value.
