The Client

The client is a leading pharmaceutical company that develops vaccines and medicines to treat asthma, viruses, infections, mental health, diabetes, digestive conditions and cancer.

The company’s global headquarters is in the United Kingdom, and the company has approximately 100 manufacturing and research facilities worldwide.

The Challenge

The client’s Lincoln facility was utilizing a third party warehouse storing approximately 80 assets, ranging from small lab kit to solid dose and sterile processing equipment. Per request of the warehouse location’s landlord, the client needed the facility cleared by the end of August 2016. The client contacted EquipNet in June 2016 to help assist with this project’s strict deadline.

The Solution

EquipNet’s Equipment Specialist provided a full inventory of the equipment at the warehouse in addition to some larger assets located in the primary production facility. Marketing for the equipment began immediately and the equipment was posted onto EquipNet’s MarketPlaceTM – the world’s largest online venue for surplus process, packaging, laboratory, and analytical equipment. During this time, high-ticketed items were focused on to find perspective buyers.

After the July 4th holiday, EquipNet determined that a clearance auction event would be best to meet the client’s requested deadline. The auction took place about two weeks prior to the project’s deadline, allowing EquipNet enough time to conduct the auction, invoice buyers, collect buyer payment, schedule logistics needs, and successfully ship the equipment. EquipNet also provided an on-site project manager to assist and oversee order removals and pick-ups throughout the two week pick up window.

The Result

EquipNet successfully met the requested clearance deadline of August 29th, resulting in a very satisfied client. About 85% of the client’s assets were sold through the EquipNet- hosted auction, while the valued unsold assets were brought on consignment and stored at one of EquipNet’s global warehouse locations. The auction’s marketing campaign also helped spread awareness within the client’s other facilities, allowing for the St. Louis facility to request an Omega Unscrambler through EquipNet’s redeployment platform, saving money off the price of buying the equipment new. This opportunity also identified a number of additional surplus and clearance needs at the St. Louis facility that EquipNet will be able to assist with.
