Equipment Description
Nikon Eclipse 90i upright research microscope configured for fluorescence and DIC work. The 90i is Nikon's high-end upright stand with a motorized/encoded nosepiece and intelligent function readout, an eyepiece-level control panel and both epi-fluorescence and transmitted-light paths. The stand's nameplate identifies it as a Nikon Eclipse 90i with a DC 24V input supplied from the separate Nikon power supply unit, and carries CE, UL and TUV/ICES markings. The system as photographed includes a binocular/trinocular observation head with a Nikon camera mounted on the vertical photo port, a six-position nosepiece, a Prior motorized X-Y scanning stage, and a Prior ProScan II controller with its joystick console. Objectives seen on the nosepiece are Nikon Plan Apo 20x/0.75 DIC, Plan Apo 40x/0.95 DIC N2, Plan Apo VC 60x/1.40 Oil and Plan Apo VC 100x/1.40 Oil DIC N2. A fluorescence filter turret and DIC/condenser components are fitted below the nosepiece. Fluorescence illumination is provided by an EXFO X-Cite Series 120 lamp unit (model XI120-XL, 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 2.4/1.0 A, 120 W VIP lamp) coupled to the stand by a liquid light guide. Power to the microscope comes from the Nikon power supply unit rated 100-120 V / 220-230 V, 2.8 A / 1.1 A, 50/60 Hz. The Prior ProScan II controller nameplates read model H30V4, 110/240 V, 150 W, 50/60 Hz and model CS152V2, 50/60 Hz. The unit was photographed in place on a bench at a biopharmaceutical facility during decommissioning; the Nikon power supply and the Prior controller both show illuminated logo panels and indicator LEDs in the photos. No performance testing, service history or software is documented, and the system ships as five separate pieces (microscope stand, X-Cite 120 lamp unit, Nikon power supply, Prior joystick console and Prior ProScan II controller).
