Precision Boilers ST16S-060B-480-15 60kW Electric Steam Boiler

Precision Boilers ST16S-060B-480-15 electric steam boiler, a compact packaged low-pressure steam generator built in Morristown, TN and UL/cUL listed as an electric boiler with integral limit control. The nameplate reads 60 KW input, 480 volts, 3 phase, 72 amperes, arranged as 2 steps of 30 KW, with a maximum working pressure of 15 PSI and a steam output of approximately 210 lb/hr. Nameplate date is 01/2019, serial 21986.

The unit is a self-contained cabinet-style boiler with a hinged front access door over the fuse and contactor sections, louvered ventilation on the upper panel, and a sealed steam chest with immersion heating elements. Visible on the boiler top are the pressure controller, two high-limit pressure controls, a siphon-mounted pressure gauge, a water column/sight glass assembly, and a safety relief valve connection. A local step/KW-limit control panel with power switch and reset is mounted at the right-hand end of the unit.

Because it is electric, the boiler requires no fuel piping, flue or combustion air and can be installed indoors in confined spaces; the 36 inch clearance label on the cabinet indicates the required service clearance. Approximate overall dimensions are 40 in long x 24 in wide x 52 in high with an estimated shipping weight of 900 lbs.

The boiler was photographed in service in a food and beverage (brewery) utility room, hardwired through a wall-mounted fused disconnect and connected to insulated steam and feedwater piping, so it will have to be electrically and mechanically disconnected before removal.
