Equipment Description

The Premiere XH-90 is a benchtop wax trimmer used in histology laboratories to trim, shape and clean excess paraffin from embedded tissue blocks and cassettes. The unit consists of an enclosed sheet-metal housing with an inclined, grooved aluminum heating plate on top; warmed wax and shavings slide down the ribbed surface into the removable collection tray mounted at the front of the unit. Controls are on the front panel and consist of an illuminated red power button and a Low/High toggle switch for the heater, with a CAUTION: HOT SURFACE label beside them. The trimmer is powered by an attached line cord and runs on standard 110 V, 60 Hz single-phase laboratory power. Overall footprint is approximately 14 in long x 9 in wide x 9 in high at roughly 20 lbs, so it is a compact, hand-carryable bench instrument. Photos of this unit show the complete trimmer with its grooved heating plate, deflector shield, removable waste collection pan and power cord, sitting on a bench liner. No additional accessories are shown, and the unit was not reported as powered up during the visit; function and heater operation have not been verified.
