Equipment Description
Great for cleaning and adding extended life to wood barrels are used in the beverage industry. With continued use, the barrels become stained and contaminated which may lead to spoilage or poor-quality products. This steam generator, is an effective way of ensuring the highest quality product is available when it is time to extract your funk beer.
Steaming barrels is advantageous to washing because the elevated temperature of steam, 212°F+, penetrates the wood to naturally kill bacteria, such as Brettanomyces and Zygosaccharomyces. Low-pressure steam uses less water compared to a typical wash system. Steam neutralizes contaminants, microbes, and bacteria without the use of chemicals leaving no additional residue during the cleaning process. In addition to the cleaning benefits, steam expands the staves of the barrel to ensure the integrity of the barrel.
