Equipment Description
Stirling Ultracold SU780XLE upright ultra-low temperature freezer with a 27.5 cu. ft. (780 liter) storage volume and a setpoint range of -20 to -86 degrees C, adjustable in 1 degree C increments. The unit uses Stirling engine free-piston cooling technology rather than a conventional cascade compressor system and is ENERGY STAR labeled, as shown by the sticker on the cabinet front. The freezer is controlled from a color touchscreen display mounted in the green top console; at the time of the site visit the display was lit and reading -73 degrees C, so the unit was running. The cabinet interior is divided by three insulated inner doors and is fitted with shelves (five shelf positions visible in the photos), with a small quantity of user material and normal frost build-up present at the time of photography. Exterior dimensions per the nameplate are 78.5 in. H x 34.2 in. front-to-back x 36 in. W, with a net weight of 625 lbs. Electrical data from the nameplate: 120-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase, maximum current 10 amps at 120 VAC or 5 amps at 240 VAC, maximum input power 1200 watts. The refrigerant is ethane. The machine carries UL and CE markings and was removed from a biopharmaceutical facility; biohazard and facility identification labels are still applied to the cabinet and would need to be removed or defaced by the buyer. The freezer stands on casters and is free-standing with a power cord, so no trade disconnection is required.

Powers On Explanations

Touchscreen display lit and reading -73 degrees C in photo 2; frost and stored samples inside in photo 4 indicate the unit was running at the time of the visit.
