Thermcraft XSB-8-8-12-1V-F01 eXPRESS-Line box furnace, a benchtop/floor-standing electric laboratory furnace built for high-temperature heat treating, ashing, sintering and general R&D thermal processing. The nameplate on the side of the unit reads model XSB-8-8-12-1V-F01, serial 1916713, 5500 watts, 230/240 volts, 23.9/22.9 amps, 50/60 Hz, with a maximum temperature of 2192 degrees F / 1200 degrees C. The XSB-8-8-12 designation corresponds to an interior chamber of approximately 8 x 8 x 12 inches (about 12 liters). The -1V configuration uses Thermcraft Fibercraft vacuum-formed ceramic fiber heating elements with free-radiating wire embedded in the heater body, and the furnace has a hinged vertical-lift door that keeps hot insulation facing away from the operator, a door safety switch, and an air gap between the heated chamber and the outer shell to hold down external surface temperature. The photos show the integrated control drawer beneath the chamber with the Thermcraft SmartControl color touchscreen PID controller, a lighted power rocker switch, and a circuit breaker disconnect on the side next to the nameplate. The chamber interior, hearth plate and threshold brick are visible with the door raised.
