Thermo Scientific ALPS 50V Microplate Heat Sealer

Thermo Scientific ALPS 50V variable temperature microplate heat sealer, model S120499-2-A006, serial 1301-537. The ALPS 50V is a manual benchtop sealer that applies heat-activated sealing film or foil to standard SBS-format microplates, including 96- and 384-well PCR, assay and storage plates. Sealing is done by loading the plate into the drawer-style carrier, sliding it under the heated platen and pulling down the front handle for the set dwell time. The unit has a digital control panel with an LED display and membrane keys for setting seal temperature and seal time, with separate degrees C and timer indicators and a heater-on indicator. The nameplate on the rear panel lists a dual-range supply of 100-130 V AC or 220-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 320 W maximum, with a voltage selector currently set to 115 V, an IEC inlet with rocker power switch and a CE mark. Construction is a painted steel chassis with molded polymer covers and a full-width aluminum carry handle, so the sealer is hand carryable and requires only bench space and a standard outlet. As photographed the sealer sits on a laboratory bench with its power cord attached and a plate carrier installed; a laminated instruction sheet rests on top of the unit. Cosmetic wear is visible on the housing, including residue from removed asset labels on the front base and a facility asset tag. Condition was not otherwise documented and the unit was not shown running, so function should be verified.
