Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex 711 Magnetic Particle Purification System

The Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex (Type 711) is a benchtop automated magnetic particle processor used to extract and purify nucleic acids, proteins and cells. Rather than transferring liquid, it uses a magnetic rod head with disposable tip combs to carry magnetic beads through a rotating carousel of plates, so binding, washing and elution steps run unattended. The unit accepts interchangeable magnetic heads and plate formats, covering roughly 20 to 5,000 uL of processing volume depending on the head installed (20-200 uL with standard/PCR 96-well plates, 50-1,000 uL with 96 deep-well plates, up to 5 mL in the 24 deep-well format), for 24 or 96 samples per run. Runs are set up and started from the onboard keypad and graphic display, and the instrument can also be driven from a PC through the rear RS-232 serial port using BindIt software.
