Equipment Description
The Thermo Scientific Savant SpeedVac DNA130 is a compact, integrated benchtop vacuum concentrator built for the concentration and drying-down of DNA, RNA, PCR preparations and synthetic oligonucleotides. The unit combines the centrifuge chamber, the heater and an oil-free diaphragm vacuum pump in a single self-contained housing, so no external pump is needed for routine low-volume sample preparation. The membrane control panel provides Manual Run and Auto Run modes, a Pre-Heat function, three user-defined programs, and separate displays for temperature and heat/run time, with a Lid Locked indicator and a Stop key. Published specifications for the model list a heated chamber operating from ambient to 65 degrees C, a PTFE-coated aluminum chamber for corrosion resistance and an ultimate vacuum below 10 Torr. The nameplate on this unit reads model DNA130-115, 115 VAC, 10 A, 60 Hz, manufacturing date 05/29/2019, country of origin USA. The chamber in the photos is fitted with the RD36-style rotor, which accepts 36 x 1.5 to 2.0 mL microcentrifuge tubes, with the hinged clear lid and lid-stay mechanism in place. The display was lit and showing a 35 C / 2:00 setpoint when the unit was photographed. The machine sits on a laboratory bench in a biopharmaceutical facility; a red biohazard label and a handwritten note are present on the front panel, and no rotors or accessories other than the installed rotor are shown.
