The ACEA Biosciences xCELLigence RTCA Cardio System (now a part of Agilent Technologies) is a specialized, label-free cell analysis platform designed to monitor cardiomyocyte activity in real time. By tracking microelectronic impedance fluctuations on a millisecond timescale, the system monitors the rhythmic contraction-relaxation cycles of beating heart cells. This continuous, non-invasive profiling makes it a core tool for preclinical cardiac safety assessment, drug toxicology screenings, and stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte research.
The ACEA Biosciences xCELLigence RTCA Cardio Station (Model RTCA Cardio Analyzer, now supported by Agilent Technologies) is the specialized internal cradle housing the electronic switching circuitry and microelectrode interface interfaces. Operating inside a standard humidified CO2 cell culture incubator, the Station interfaces directly with custom 96-well E-Plate Cardio microplates to perform high-frequency impedance sweeps every 12.9 milliseconds across all wells.
