This client is a global healthcare company that specializes in a wide range of medical services including medical imaging and information technologies, drug discovery, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, the client is a multi-billion dollar company who employs more than 46,000 people throughout the world.
The client enlisted EquipNet’s services to assist in the disposition of approximately 150 assets at its Hammersmith, UK facility that was due to close. Prior to shut down, the facility had been performing human nuclear medicine trials and therefore equipment in the facility included PET scanners, various lab, and maintenance equipment.
While the timing of the closure did not present any major challenges, the location itself had a restrictive layout which added a greater level of complexity. The primary locational challenges were due to the fact that the equipment was located over several floors and on hospital grounds with narrow access roads.
EquipNet was tasked with developing a solution to meet the client’s clearance needs while being mindful of the logistical restrictions.
EquipNet utilized a variety of sales channels to achieve 100% sell-through of all the surplus assets on-site. These sales channels included both EquipNet’s managed pricing and online auction platforms. Prior to the client’s deadline, EquipNet marketed and sold all of the equipment and coordinated the removal directly from the facility. A team of equipment specialists was deployed to assist with the post-auction pickup scheduling and load outs.
In order to meet the client’s deadline, EquipNet coordinated the removal and shipment of all of any remaining assets to an off-site warehouse to be sold on consignment. This allowed the client to still maximize its financial returns while remaining in compliance with its facility’s shut-down schedule, yielding the best possible outcome for all parties involved in the project.
